Authenticity & Sustainability Respect and Deferenve to Nature

As our guests have described them, our properties are “harmoniously integrated into the surrounding landscape”. This deference extends to the location, design and services that promote the unique natural landscapes and seascapes of the Azores.

In fact, the architecture, building materials and site planning have been completed to minimize the impact on the wonderful natural surroundings of each destination. The minimalist architecture is both elegant and functional in order to focus on each location. Meanwhile, the interiors, which were designed and built exclusively for each project, hint to traditional or heritage elements unique to the islands. Many of these pieces include re-used local objects (such as milk containers from abandoned farms which were repurposed as lamps) and materials (such the chairs and tables that used iron frames and doormat-crafts for coverings). 

Many of these projects were completed by artisans and craftsmen, and supported by local companies, during the design and construction. In addition, their expertise was fundamental in maintaining the level of quality during many of the later interventions and projects.

Luxury amenities

Safe, Sustainable Our concern for ecologically-friendly luxury products has meant that we actively search for safe, sustainable practices that are inline with our brand. This includes the luxury amenities available in our suites, which carry the Voya seal (an Irish organic, seaweed-based brand) in individual/personalized glass containers with labels in local wood veneer. These products have therapeutic properties and are exclusively provided to recreate the calming effects of our wellness and relaxation treatments available to our guests.

Farm-to-table

Organic Gastronomy  Our organic farm which includes two greenhouses and 4000 m2 of arable land permits the cultivation of many fruits, vegetables and aromatic herbs, that guarantee the quality, freshness and exclusivity of our gastronomic experience at our lodgings.

Environmentalism

Socially-Responsible  As part of our concern for the environment and our impact, our teams of groundskeepers and maintenance staff are constantly tending to the grounds of our properties. This includes collecting refuse and debris along the shoreline of Santa Bárbara beach: it is a small gesture that aims to alert the entire community to the issue of ocean pollution and preserve our seascape.

Energy Efficiency

Sustainability  The use of natural materials in the construction process provides thermal insulation of our buildings, while the use of high-efficiency equipment (such as the implementation of low consumption lighting) has reduced our buildings’ drain on local resources.

Water Efficiency

Productivity We focus on reducing waste in our properties through innovative ways of maintaining the supply. Such as the collection of rainwater from the rooftops of our buildings, storing them in basins and then reusing that capacity for irrigating the gardens and crops in our farm.
